Smartphone chipset manufacturers in the world are only a handful. As you know, Qualcomm has dominated the market in all segments for a long time. In the latest report, the list of the Top 5 chipset vendors in the world shows minor changes in the third position.

Samsung’s Exynos chipset division has now become the world’s third-largest supplier of smartphones, replacing Apple, which dropped to fourth, according to data from Counterpoint Research.

Exynos has a 14.1% market share in 2019, up 2.2 percentage points compared to the previous year.

This increase is thanks to strong growth in North America and India. Samsung and Huawei are the only vendors in the global Top 5 that post growth.

While Apple dropped 0.5 percentage points to 13.1% of shares to finish in fourth place, ahead of Huawei in fifth.

Qualcomm and MediaTek still maintain their leading positions respectively with a market share of 33.4% and 24.6%.

It will be interesting to see how the situation develops this year. Samsung already uses several MediaTek chips for certain models at a lower scale and will use even more for affordable 5G phones.

Samsung’s chip division also hasn’t stopped. He found a new client, vivo (for X30 phones). Also, the development of special CPU cores was closed, but the company partnered with AMD to bring Radeon GPU technology to its Exynos chipset.
